DIY Buttermilk

Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk dairy or non-dairy alternative, such as lactose-free, almond, soy, or oat milk
  • 1 TBS lemon juice or white vinegar

Instructions

  • Pour 1 tablespoon of lemon juice or white vinegar into a measuring cup.
  • Fill the rest of the measuring cup with milk to reach 1 cup total.
  • Stir gently and let the mixture sit for 10 minutes. The milk will begin to curdle slightly and thicken, this is what you want!
  • Use the DIY buttermilk as directed in your recipe.
